Herbal Tea

Treatments

Over the past 5,000 years acupuncture has evolved into a complete medical system that can diagnose, treat, and prevent illness.

Mary is highly skilled in the full range of TCM treatments, including:

acupuncture

Acupuncture uses fine, sterile, single-use needles to stimulate acupoints and energy channels to move Qi and blood.

A principle of Traditional Chinese Medicines states  that the body's energy, or Qi (pronunced "chee"), flows along pathways called meridians. Illness occurs when the movement of chi is stalled or blocked. Placing fine sterile needles into specific points on the body, redirects the flow of Qi and restores balance and harmony. Acupuncture regulates Qi, nourishes organs and tissues, benefits the spirit and calms the mind. It is very effective in the treatment of pain disorders.

acupressure

For children and those who dislike needles, Mary can use acupressure, along with herbal salves. In acupressure, Mary will apply pressure with her fingers on specific acupoints on the meridians of the body (instead of needles).

moxibustion

Moxibustion uses an herb called Artemesia vulgaris, or mugwort which is compressed into a cigar-shaped stick. Mary may burn the herb above your skin, or on the handle of the acupuncture needle. Moxa  has unique warming qualities that quicken healing.

herbology

One of Mary specialties is treating asthma and allergies by appling herbs directly on the skin at specific acupuncture points.Special herbal salves are used for treating burns, cuts and hemerrhoids.Another application of herbs is them in footbaths to insomnia, poor circulation, (including with people with diabetes).
